Providence, Rhode Island- Firelight, Gondolas & Calm Delights
Arrival & Where We Stayed
We checked in at the Hilton Homewood Suites Downtown Providence, perfectly located for exploring the heart of the city. Its proximity to Waterplace Park, restaurants, and the river made it an easy and convenient base for our adventures.
Lighting Up the Night: WaterFire
One of the highlights was catching the first WaterFire lighting of the season. As dusk fell, the river lit up with braziers, crackling flames, flickering reflections, and soft music drifting through the air. The smell of wood smoke, the gentle heat, and the visual rhythm of the flames made the experience both lively and calming.
Walking along the riverbanks, we paused to take in the firelight and enjoyed seeing the city transform in such a unique way.
Gondola on the River
We also enjoyed a 40-minute ride with La Gondola Providence (starting at $89 for two people). It was a relaxing way to experience the city from the water. The gondolier guided us smoothly along the river, and I brought a charcuterie board as a snack for the ride. The gentle movement of the boat and the quiet of the water created a calm, memorable experience for both me and my son.
