Family Adventures in Hong Kong
As part of our Asia tour, our first stop was Hong Kong. With its mix of modern attractions and family-friendly activities, it was the perfect way to kick off our trip.
Getting There
We flew direct from Newark Airport (EWR) in New Jersey to Hong Kong on United Airlines. It was a long 16-hour flight, so to make it more comfortable, we chose seats with no one sitting in front of us. That extra space was invaluable, more legroom for us and more room for our son to move around without disturbing other passengers.
Where We Stayed
After arriving in Hong Kong, we took the shuttle bus from the airport (located on the lower level) to our hotel. We stayed at the Marriott, conveniently located right across from the airport.
Check-in was fast and efficient, which was exactly what we needed after such a long day of travel. We were hungry, so we ordered room service, and it didn’t disappoint. The food was delicious and arrived promptly.
Disneyland Hong Kong
The next day, we hopped on the free hotel shuttle bus to Disneyland Hong Kong. Although it was cloudy and dreary outside, the magic of Disney brightened our day.
The park offered plenty of attractions and entertainment, and while our favorite Disney park is still Walt Disney World in Florida, it was exciting to experience a new Disney destination and see how it compared.
Family-Friendly Fun in Hong Kong
Hong Kong has so much to offer families, from theme parks and museums to cultural experiences. If you’re traveling with kids, you’ll find no shortage of activities to keep everyone entertained. For inspiration, here’s a helpful guide to things to do with kids in Hong Kong.
Since our stay in Hong Kong was short and we were still recovering from the long flight, we didn’t get to explore as much as we wanted. But even with just a taste of the city, we knew it was worth revisiting.
Final Thoughts
Hong Kong gave us a warm welcome and a wonderful start to our Asia adventure. Between Disney magic, delicious food, and the convenience of family-friendly hotels and shuttles, it was an easy and enjoyable trip with our son.
This is definitely a destination we would return to, next time with more time to explore everything Hong Kong has to offer!
